Carifika Global Virtual Debate

Join Us for a Groundbreaking Virtual Debate: Uncovering the Impact of Westernization on African Culture and Social Systems

We are thrilled to announce an enlightening and thought-provoking virtual debate organized by Carifika Global. This event aims to bring together members of the Caribbean and African communities to delve into an issue that has far-reaching implications for our cultural and social systems.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, August 10th, 2024
  • Time: 6:00 PM GMT | 7:00 PM WAT | 8:00 PM CET
  • Platform: Virtual (details to be shared upon registration)

The debate will address a critical question: "Is Westernization to Blame for the Decline in African Culture and Social Systems?" This topic is both timely and relevant as we seek to understand the underlying causes of the changes in our social and cultural structures. Our goal is to project and enlighten the people of Caribbean and African descent on their values, customs, and traditions.

Participants: We invite interested members from various committees to form teams that will participate in the debate. Each team will consist of three members:

  • Affirmative Team: Advocating for the view that Westernization is to blame.
  • Opposing Team: Arguing against the view that Westernization is the primary cause.
  • Team of Judges: Evaluating the quality of evidence, arguments, and overall performance of the debating teams.

The teams will bring their expertise, perspectives, and opinions to bear on the topic, engaging in a dynamic exchange that promises to be both educational and compelling.

Registration and Participation:

  • Registration Period: From July 22nd, 2024
  • Deadline for Team Formation and Submission: July 31st, 2024
